Ill cut to the chase: when you go to a bar/nightclub, and youre going to apply for a job there, is it wise to tell the manager that you are able to flair? And how much do you actually do flair when working?

its always good to point out you have an intrest in it and are able to do it but a lot of venues will have thier own flair policies. i work in a club atm that is really good for allowing us to flair but we do make a lot of cocktails so it sort of ties in, infact the manager got bounce mats in and has appointed me and one of my staff flair instructors so that we can teach people basic working flair and see how they go from there, but of course it is a case of 'you break it you buy it'. the best bet is just to mention it as a passing comment and not to stress on it and the manager will usually be impressed even if they operate really strict flair rules.

But do managers sometimes disapprove flairing?

yeah a lot of managers will run thier bars with a 'no flair' policy. but like i said if you mention you can do it (as a hobby)and are fairly competitent they might light you do bits of working flair and then you can gradually work up as the manager grows more accustom to flair in thier bar

may help seperate u from the other applicants put u up a notch. maybe also mention if ur interested in mixology and drink quality so that they'll see ur well rounded cuz some managers think we are just "tossing bottles around"
