I don't really know any really good ice scoop tricks but there are two nice working flair ones which I use alot and do get a couple of "Woo"s or "Waaay"s at work. First one is just the simple flicking 1/2/3 ice cubes into the air from the scoop and catching them in a glass or shaker. A cool little twist on this one is to place the glass on the bar first with the majority of the ice you need already in it, then flick a cube up from below bar level so that it lands in the glass on the bar. This is pretty tricky to get right cos obviously you need to get the trajectory perfect or you miss! The other one I can only do with 1 cube at the moment but looks pretty cool is to flick a cube up with the scoop in your right hand and so that it is falling down just infront of you and so that it would basically land just infront of your right leg. With a glass in your left hand, bring it around your back and catch the cube in the glass at your right hip. Its nothing spectacular but livens up a boring shift!
Any more scoop or pincer magic would be fantastic to hear.
Rick.

Ice and scoop tricks in my opinion are really hard to make look cool, there are loads of things you can do... I recently watched the roadhouse world final from last year on dvd, and MIG and Tim Morris have some truelly awsome ice stuff in their routines, if you get the chance get hold of this dvd its excellent... Dont you just love that feeling you get after watching the pro's do their thing, that i wanna be that good kinda feeling that makes you not stop flairing for 3 days solid? yes guess who has that feeling right now...
Take it easy

Heres a couple of ice/garnish tricks for you.... SWIPE...hold the glass/tin in one hand scoop in other with 1 cube in it, throw the ice in the air in front of the body and as it starts to decend bring the glass across your body catching the cube in the glass midair! DOWNWARD SWIPE... similar to the above but as the cube is in the air bring the glass downward to catch the cube, one variation on this move is to throw the cube behind your back and catch it that way! I have seen people do this trick with 2 and even three ice cubes but believe me that takes a lot of skill, timing and dexterity! Nice to see ur still about Will, though ud keeled over

OK I'm surprised that no one has mentioned basic icing tricks.
Try this
Fill an ice scoop - hold a glass or tin inreverse grip, put the edge of the scoop in the tin/glass but without letting any ice fall.
Now move botharms in a arc over your head so that the tin is upright agin and the scoop remains inside and if you do this well, you won't drop a cube, very smooth and very fast - good working flair.
Now if you're a show boat like me, then you can flick the ice cube around and catch it on the scoop, so around the back and catch in front and over your shoulder to a catch in the scoop behind the back.
Also I place a tin in my left throw a cube around the back and elbow bump it into the tin.
my new trick is to place two cubes of ice into the scoop and hold a tin in my left agin flick ti around the back. they should come down at different times and to the left and right of each other, so you can catch one cube in the tin and the other in the scoop, then place the other one in using the bump I explained earlier.
have fun

Recently, I was bored and decided to make the floor wet. I tried the 2 cube juggle with one scoop. Never really got it, because the cubes kept sliding out of the scoop, but I think you can make wonders with a little practise. (Note: I am going to try it today again and again...)
Also, I have seen it with cherries, but it must work with icecubes as well: Throw up 2 cubes, but make sure there is some place left between the 2. Now do the swipe (see above) "there and back" to catch the first and then the second.
(3 cube juggle with 2 scoops? - soon...)

Ok the first one ive used a few times before, now the second, is that a continuation of the ice behind the head or is that a totally different move? One quick flashy move I always use is; hold the tin in a reverse grip, put the scoop just near the open face of the tin, flick the ice into the tin, rotate the tin in a semi circle across your body and release to give it a little air before catching in a regular grip. If you want to be fancy you can give it a pull on the release to give it enough air to carry it over your should and catch it behind the back or behind the neck (which every you fancy)

Bob First Off - My second move is a completly different move Second - I was just giving basics - you wanna talk up the ice scoop challenge?!!?!?! Wicked - lets go pro! Stalls with cubes - on forearm, bicep and chest. on the bottom of the tin and then lift and swipe. bumps - with foot are also cool - ie throw it behind the back to the other hand but deliberately miss and side foot the cube back into a tin - obviously discard. Using walls - I used to throw cubes at the wall alot (like they do in carnival court). and then catch. Have two ice cubes in left hand. Reverse grip tin in left - and then throw one cube behind your back into the tin and then the next around the world for a swipe - I practice this with tea bags) Do my swoop over the head and tomahawk it back - (it has to be less than a quarter full of ice and you must be holding onto the top of the tin only. Ok looking forward to the moves coming back my way

Hey woe chill, not throwing down a challenge here looking to share some ideas and get some back.
Ive tried juggling ice between 2 tins, still working on three cubes.
stall on the back of the neck and flick back to catch in tin, football trick really.
If you've got a long straight bar and nobody in between get a co-worker to fill a large scoop of ice and hurl the ice in your general direction, only good if you need 1 or 2 cubes or can practice to arc the ice (just a thought but would crushed ice hold together better when hurling it?? - just a side thought)

Rick. A Tomahawk is just throwing the object from beside your head straight up to a catch or whatever.....imagine throwing a tomahawk....your hand is by your ear with your elbow pointing straight ahead. Now throw the object up from that position.....TOMAHAWK. Not a great explanation, but I try ;D Cheers. Todd

Rick. Tomahawk - usually performed with bottles so I will describe it in bottle format. First imagine holding a bottle in reg grip and doing a double flip to a catch in the same hand - the bottle neck spins towards you first right? Now a tomahawk spins the otherway and the move starts by your ear but using a reverse grip. So take the bottle with a reverse grip and move it aroundyour head and then to the ear the same side as your hand. SO if its in your right hand put the bottle by your right ear. Ok? now the spout is still pointing up, now throw it up so it spins away from your body and its up to you how you catch it - ie on the eck or on the body. Note: order a I'm gonna do something stupid helmet first and please also note that this move is done at your own risk. Darren

Awesome, I like the sounds of that one, might give that a go tonight if work is slow (because i left my flairco there last night, d'oh!). Nearly got my sexy new bottle ran over by a car last night cos I was out on the street having a break and just messing around with our doorman and I did a couple of moves and got the bottle in my right hand and threw it up and over my right shoulder (to him) but it didn't leave my hand properly and ended up bouncing off into the road right infront of a car, it fortunately swerved and missed it! Phew! Close call! Thank you Mr Car Driver Man!
So remember kids, don't play with your bottle near roads!

we got one me and another guy do which is where you stand at opposite ends of the bar, 1 guy throws 3 ice cubes in the air towards the other guy and the second tries to catch all three in one fluent movement. its usually easier to catch the first with an iverted glass so you can catch the second 2 as the glass comes back up. also by doing so you get more time for the second two cos the glass is lower. takes a lot of prractice and needs a good serve
