Hello! I am brand new to the whole idea of bartending, let alone flair bartending. SO...any tips at all will be wonderful! Are there many women on this board? I would love to know people's opinions of how men and women are viewed in bartending. I have seen that alot of women are hired for looks, but know nothing about mixing drinks...how is this recieved by the male clientele? So how well would a woman be recieved that can mix drinks AND do flair? I am looking forward to hearing from you and meeting new people! ~The Empress

Hi Empress,
This was once a mighty board of flair bartenders, now i think there's like 5 of us that actively post, a few girls here as well, uh anyway, here's some stuff i recently posted...
Flairing is fun etc etc, flair bottles are helpful but: If you don't have flair bottles yet thats fine, i'd almost be inclined to say thats even better. Practice on a floor with a rug, unless the bottle is full it won't break, i promise, bottles hitting bottles will break though, so start with one bottle tricks, and speaking of breaking bottles, you're gonna break a few, accept it, it's the only way to learn. Then eventually start putting a little liquid in there, these tricks look awesome at home or in competition with empty or nearly empty bottles, but the crowd at the bar isn't too impressed when you flip flip flip and go to pour and they get a shot of nothing. (although i have a trick that involves that too). I always like to do it to music, that helps. And also while this site is great, head off to youtube, this site is not frequently updated, theres tons of videos on youtube of amazing stuff. Welcome to the flair school!!!
